Home testing is convenient for selected adults with suspected obstructive sleep apnea. Laboratory polysomnography records more signals and may be preferred when other sleep disorders or complicating medical conditions are suspected.

Treatment is individualized

Depending on the diagnosis, care may involve CPAP or APAP, selected bilevel therapy, mask and humidification support, oral-appliance referral, positional measures, weight management or specialist referral. Weight loss can complement sleep-apnea treatment, but patients should not stop PAP without reassessment.
