GLP-1 Nausea and Constipation Nutrition Philadelphia
Nutrition strategies for nausea and constipation during GLP-1 treatment, including warning signs that require medical attention.

Managing common digestive effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and abdominal discomfort are recognized adverse effects of GLP-1–based medicines. Symptoms should be discussed rather than managed by unsupervised dose changes.
For mild nausea
- Try smaller portions and slower eating.
- Avoid lying down immediately after eating.
- Identify foods that reliably worsen symptoms; high-fat or very large meals are common triggers.
- Use the hydration plan recommended by the clinician.
For constipation
- Review fluid intake, activity and gradually tolerated fiber.
- Do not assume more fiber is always appropriate when intake is low, dehydration is present or symptoms are severe.
- Ask before using laxatives or supplements, especially with kidney disease or interacting medicines.
